This course focuses on communication as a management and leadership tool, and emphasizes communications with a variety of stakeholders within an organization: team members, superiors, direct reports, as well as management of external stakeholders such as clients. Topics include communication theories and strategies for leading based on communication skills and strengths, managing conflict, and addressing ethics and destructive leadership communication practices.
This online lab introduces students to college-level learning and professionalism, focusing on developing the skills necessary to communicate professionally and effectively. This lab is required for all undergraduates in their first semester majoring in Naveen Jindal School of Management. Lab enrollment is about 1,700 in Fall, 500 in Spring, and 80 in Summer.
Innovative lab assignments include modules on AI ATS Interviewing and AI ATS Resumes, and the opportunity to earn a series of LinkedIn Learning certificates on Word, Excel and PowerPoint. All students also participate in a campus event and write a LinkedIn post on their LinkedIn accounts, created in their business or professional communication course. Â
This course introduces students to business communication and professionalism, focusing on developing the skills necessary to communicate professionally and effectively. Particular communication skills include understanding audience and context; writing and evaluating internal and external communications; using appropriate communication tools and channels; effectively integrating research and data into presentations and reports; and networking and professional presence. This course is required for all first-time in college freshman students in their first semester majoring in Naveen Jindal School of Management.
